Boulder is located 25 miles northwest of Denver. 

It is home to the main campus of the University of Colorado, which is the state's largest university.  In 1861, legislation was passed for the state university to be located in Boulder.  The first cornerstone was for the first building, Old Main, to be built on the CU Campus. 

Population in July of 2010 was 97,385.  Boulder has been rated as one of the nation's top small cities and is famous for its status of being one of Colorado's most liberal cities as well as its colorful western history.  There are many urban parks, two public outdoor pools, a reservoir for boating and swimming, a city-owned golf course, and 30,000 acres of open space next to the beautiful Flatirons.

Erie is located approximately 35 minutes from Denver International Airport, 25 minutes from Denver and 20 minutes from Boulder.  Erie is also located less than 25 minutes northeast of Denver.  The founder of this town was Reverend Richard Van Valkenburg,  In 1871, Erie had the first coal mine in Weld County.  This town also has a very rich historic business district downtown.  It offers a small-town feel but is still very close to metro areas.  The town is a restaurant destination for many metro area residents and visitors.  There are several annual events that are hosted here as well as a new 18-hole championship golf course, skate park, and seven neighborhood parks.

Lafayette  is located 18 miles north of Denver and 10 miles east of Boulder. 

It was founded in 1878 by Mary & Lafayette Miller who moved to the area to farm land acquired via the Homestead Act.   Coal was discovered on the farm and the boom began.  Turn of the century in eastern Boulder County was booming with miners. 

Population in July of 2009 was 26,146.  The community maintains a small-town atmosphere. 

There are more than 15 parks (neighborhood playgrounds to large community parks), a championship golf course, an indoor ice-skating rink, a cultural arts center.

Longmont is located 25 miles northeast of Denver and 6 miles east of Boulder. 

It was founded in 1871 by a group of people from Chicago, Illinois.  Therefore, it was originally called the Chicago-Colorado colony and was the first planned community in Boulder County.  This city began to flourish as an agricultural community after the building of the Colorado Central Railroad in 1877.  With more than 1,500 acres of parks and open space, the city offers many opportunities for recreational activities.  It is also known for its many restaurants and was named one of the "Best Places to Live" in 2006 and 2008.

Louisville is located 25 miles northwest of Dnever and six miles east of Boulder.  Incorporated in 1882, the city has a rich history, which is documented in the Louisville Historical Museum. 

Designated open space consumes approximately 1,700 acres in town.  Amenities in the city include Avista Adventist Hospital-Centura Health, 27 parks, 22 miles of trails, an 18-hole public golf course with a clubhouse, a skateboard park and a city recreation center with a swimming pool. 

Housing options include historic and new neighborhoods with single-family homes, condominiums, townhomes and apartments. 

 

Superior  is located northwest of downtown Denver on U.S. 36 and six miles east of Boulder. 

It was founded in 1896 and incorporated in 1904.  It's history is of coal mining, and the first mines in the area  were developed in the late 19th century.  It received its name because it was known for the "superior quality" of coal found in the area.  Population in July of 2009 was 10,809.  The community offers a small-town environment with a rich history and great access to Boulder County amenities.  In addition, there are 540 acres of parks and open space and 28 miles of trails that connect neighborhood parks and the regional trail network.  Superior also offers easy access to restaurants, shopping, and services.
